We’re proposing some changes to the way we manage and reduce waste. No Time to Waste Tiakina a Papa! Mimiti te Para! is our plan for reducing waste to landfill, and minimising the harmful effects of waste in our district. Its official name is a Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (WMMP). The plan contains an overview of what sort of waste issues we’re dealing with in our district, and our goals, objectives, and our action plan to achieve them.

We asked for your feedback on our proposal to classify some streets and footpaths in Waihi and Paeroa as busy thoroughfares, which means unreinforced masonry earthquake-prone buildings on these streets will need to be fixed in half the timeframe as earthquake-prone buildings on less busy streets/thoroughfares.

Dog Control Policy and Bylaw 2021

Written feedback on the draft Dog Control Policy and Bylaw 2021 closed on 12 March 2021.

The dog control policy and bylaw was adopted on 28 April 2021.

Tirohia Landfill Phase C

Waste Management NZ Limited has lodged a resource consent application with Hauraki District Council and Waikato Regional Council for further landfill development in Tirohia. The applications will be processed jointly by the two Councils.

Proposed Plan Change 4 proposes a number of administrative changes to the Operative Hauraki District Plan.

Submissions on Proposed Plan Change 4 closed at 4pm on 16 October 2020. The Council released its decisions on submissions on 18 June 2021. The appeal period closes on 30 July 2021.
